Got Lethal? #3: Warrior Combo Wombos

by - 9 years ago

Welcome to “Got Lethal?” a (hopefully) weekly feature that will try to put you on complicated, yet winnable situations. We will bring you puzzles of sorts where you are tasked with determining the best line of play, which mostly is play that will guarantee you the victory. Maybe this will help you train your pro-skills and perhaps with a bit of luck you won’t Miss Lethal ever again, or maybe the scenarios are way too fantastic to be of help on serious matches, anyway at least I hope you can have fun with them.

Warrior Combo Wombos

Our latest arena run didn’t start that well. First of all we didn’t get Mage in our class choices, we didn’t get Priest or Pally either. But we decided to soldier on with the might of the Warrior and after a rough 0-2 start we managed to string a killer streak of 11 putting us one game away from the promised land. To be honest, we had a lot of luck with Combos, winning plenty of hard games with a lucky combination of cards. But now inches away from a 12 win arena run we are once again in a tight spot, last turn our opponent drew his last card, then decided to hide behind a taunt and go full face with double mind blast and hero power. We highly suspect that he has a holy fire or something else to finish us off next turn, so we really want to go for the kill instead armoring up and clearing the board in hopes that he doesn’t have lethal.

But we can’t do it alone, we need your help to Combo Wombo one last time and bring that 12 win key back home.

Last week Dibface really stood tall over all competition. Is this week your turn to make your way into the “Got Lethal?” imaginary leaderboards?

I’d begin playing Bloodsail Raider (2 mana), then Inner Rage on the 1/7 (0 mana), now its 3/6. Then i heal it with Earthen (3 mana), so the Northshire triggers, dealing 1 damage. Then, i’d attack that healed 3/7 with the Ghoul, so the Warbot, Bloodsail and Earthen take 1 damage each, with Ghoul’s deathrattle.
With the 5 mana left, i’d play Darkscale to heal those three, dealing 2+3+4=9 damage thanks to the Cleric.
The priest has now 4 health, end turn and he draws a nice 5 damage fatigue, to win the game 😀

    • SkarnSW says:

Great solution! You can do it slightly differently too. Attack the Warden with the Warbot and Ghoul. This gives 2 damaged mobs on your side. Play the Farseer and heal the Warden for one fatigue draw. Now Inner Rage the Farseer to create a third damaged friendly minion.

Play the Darkscale Healer to heal the 3 friendly minions for 3 more fatigue draws. End the turn to cause the fifth one. Death by Cleric. Almost the same thing, but it uses 2 less mana and doesn’t require the Ghoul to die.

Great solution, and saves mana! I gotta say that its great to use this kind of games to think over solutions, and know the answers of the other players as well, it makes you see things from different points of view!
I think it helps anyone to learn some new tricks

        • SkarnSW says:

I agree! These puzzles are fun and I always learn something! I don’t always solve them either. 🙂

  2. Tthwein says:

My solution is similar but with the win on our turn.
    Bloodsail Raider (2 spent)
    Charge Raider (3 spent)
Attack Warden with, Raider, Warbot, and Ghoul
    Inner Rage Cleric (0 spent)
    Drop Darkscale Healer (5 spent).
    Priest dies from exhaustion (1+2+3+4+5=15).

    • César González Medina says:

Not exactly, since the Darkscale only heals the friendly ones, healing warbot ghoul and raider for 1+2+3 damage, then in his turn he takes 4 damage, having 4 left still, let me know if i missed any detail!

      • Tthwein says:

        By bad, you are correct.
        An alternative would be:
        Drop Raging Worgen (3 spent).
Inner Rage the Worgen (0 spent) to 6/2.
Charge the Worgen (3 spent) to 8/2.
Kill the warden with the Worgen and it is now 9/1.
Hit face with the Worgen, Warbot and Ghoul (9+1+1=11) dropping the priest to 3.
Drop Earthen Ring Farseer and heal Worgen (3 spent). The cleric draw does 1 damage for exhaustion dropping the priest to 2.
End turn, the second exhaustion kills the priest.

        • César González Medina says:

Sorry to say, but when you kill the Warden with the Worgen, it is 8/1, not 9/1, since he had damage already from the inner rage, therefore, he does not gain any extra atack bonuses, he just have his 2nd attack left, so its (8+1+1=10) from the Worgen, Warbot and Ghoul, plus (1+2) from the two fatigues you already explained, for a total of 13 damage, and the priest being still able to play cards.

  3. Chapzwow says:

arcanite reaper (5mana) + blood sail raider (2mana). now you have a 7/3 on table, atack with taunt, leave the mogu on 5 heald (because 1 dmg from taunt + 1 from d.r), atack with arcanite reaper, destroy the taunt and stay on 1 health.
now go to the 7/3, use inner rage (0 mana) + charge(3 mana) = leaving it on 11 dmg 7+2+2 and 1 health (1 less form inner, 1 less from taunt passive).
Then attack to face with 11 dmg + 2 from war bot = 13 dmg, leaving him on 1 hp that he will lose when his turn stars because of fatigue.
    gg wp.

PD: you can play the arcanitee reaper and blood sail before or after attacking with your taunt minion, because it doesnt affect the final result.

    • SkarnSW says:

That was my first thought, but it doesn’t work. The Unstable Ghoul has 3 HP. The Mogu’shan Warden has 1 Attack. The Ghoul won’t die, so it’s deathrattle won’t kill the Warden.

  4. RogerATKz says:

You play the Worgen for 3 mana. You give Worgen Charge for 3 mana. Worgen is now 5/3. Inner Rage Worgen for 0 mana. Worgen is 8/2. Attack the taunt. 8/1. Worgen is in windfury state, so the second attack goes to face. Attack with the other minions to the face. Which is 2 damage. Then play Earthen for 3 mana (9 mana used total) to the priest which is in shadowform, causing 3 damage. Total damage is (8+1+1+3) 13. Fatigue for 1 damage equals 14. Lethal.
