Fireside Chat

Blizzard just released a new Fireside Chat blog post on the offcicial Hearthstone site. Mike Domais talks in it a lot about Elementals. We were all womdering about how the Elemental tribe would interact with each other and this article gives a lot of insight to it. The post is accopanied with some new card spoilers (Flame Elemental is a token)! See for yourself….

Blizzard posted an update earlier today to indicate that their development work on porting Hearthstone to mobile platforms, including Android and an iPhone-scaled version on iOS, is ongoing. They have tentatively slated the tablet Android release for Q4 2014, while mobile versions will not become available until into 2015 now. The update also included an infographic with some interesting statistical data. For example, it shows that the longest Ranked play win streak is 24 games, and the shortest number of games played to reach Legend in a season was 74. Read on for the full post details… Greetings to all card-slingers around the world! Some time has passed since we last sat down and pow-wowed, and in that time a lot has happened. Since launching Hearthstone®: Heroes of Warcraft™ back in March, we’ve: Let players’ fingers do the dueling with the arrival of Hearthstone on iPad Survived the creepy-crawly wings

Anyone familiar with Blizzard games is certainly accustomed to and with achievements. These toasts that pop up from time to time celebrate a various number of things you can do within the game from dropping chandeliers on 666 enemies in Diablo to fishing up Old Crafty in Ogrimmar for World of Warcraft. Some players completely ignore them; others hunt them passionately and viciously, sometimes even going as far as to create entire communities around like-minded individuals for a combine-and-conquer initiative. With Diablo recently adding Seasons and Conquests within Seasons, which are akin to “uber” achievements, it got me wondering whether Hearthstone could use an Achievement system. It’s something we’ve discussed on prior podcasts and in other venues, but I want you, the readers, to chime in directly. What would achievements look like in Hearthstone to you? Why would you want them in the game? Do you want more prestige? A profile/armory to

I am please to report that during the wee hours this morning, I vanquished Heroic Kel’Thuzad and unlocked my shiny new card back! It was a long and hard fought battle after nearly 2 weeks of banging my head against Grobbulus but I was determined to defeat him before I moved on in progression. Late last night I finally caved and netdecked a priest deck that was surprisingly similar to the one that I was already using, and a dozen attempts later, I was finally working on Gluth. Having already caved on my personal “No Netdecking” policy, I decided to use some of the deck lists I’ve been sent recently by well meaning individuals and thankfully they made the rest of the fights surprisingly easy. All in all, I found The Curse of Naxxramas to be an extremely enjoyable delivery method for the new cards that have been shaking up the meta,

It would be very easy to compare the anticipation and build up for the release of Curse of Naxxramas to that of a child waiting for Christmas Day. Class card teasers, Legendary card reveals, pricing information – they all may as well be the dribs and drabs of gifts showing up under the Christmas tree in the weeks leading up to the big day. With Christmas morning, it only took us mere moments to have the gifts unwrapped and the toys put together and played with, leaving only the smell of turkey wafting through the house  to give us something new to anticipate. In our case, the Arachnid Quarter has been opened, Maexxna has been defeated and Druids and Rogues have their new class cards, leaving us to now anticipate the opening of the Plague Quarter. Luckily for us, the Curse of Naxxramas is the gift that will keep on giving

Anticipation for Naxxramas has been building over the last few day with new details emerging regarding the pricing structure, golden cards and deathrattle changes. The only thing we’re missing now is a firm release date, but if it’s anything like the “Official Launch”, the necropolis will probably just drop on us at some point in the next week or so and we’ll stumble across a tweet telling us it’s live. Regardless of how or when this new content is released, everybody will have access to the first wing straight away and new cards and decks should start popping up on the ladder very quickly. I’m the type of person who will probably focus all of my Hearthstone time and energy into devouring the new content, making sure that I complete each wing and obtain every card available. My priority is going to be on learning the new mechanic changes and making

It’s that time of year again! The sun is shining, the birds are singing, the insects are biting… Summertime has been notoriously difficult for every raiding guild I’ve ever been in. For most people, especially those who live in parts of the world that experience a long and hard winter, (Cough-Canada), the idea of staying indoors to game just doesn’t seem to be very appealing during the nice weather.  I kid you not, I’d rather spend my time pulling weeds from my garden and having my ankles ravaged by ants than spend one second longer in front of my computer than I have to. This includes spending time playing Hearthstone. I still haven’t been able to find the time to log on since the season reset to claim my rainbow card back. It’s not that I haven’t been getting my Hearthstone fix; I’ve still been watching the streams and reading all the articles I can

As Hearthstone continues to gain popularity as an eSport, we’re starting to see the same names popping up more and more within the community. It’s been nearly impossible to read Reddit the last few months without seeing names like Amaz, Noxious, or Trump in a post title. Some of these players are known for their educational or entertaining streams, others for their YouTube highlights. Then, there are the players that are gaining a reputation in the tournament scene. I’m sure that after the recent, drama-filled events at Dreamhack Summer and later on Twitch and Twitter, names like Reynad and RDU now also come to mind. I knew of both RDU and Reynad prior to the Dreamhack controversy because I’ve been following the streams and tournaments since Beta, but I got to wondering, how many of you are following the tournament scene? Do you make it a point to watch your favorite player

** Spoiler Warning – This post discusses the outcome of the Dreamhack Summer tournament that was played the weekend of June 14th, 2014. ** Unless you’ve been living under a rock this past week, it’s been pretty hard for even the most casual of Hearthstone eSports fans to have missed out on the controversy surrounding the games played between Amaz and RDU at Dreamhack Summer last weekend. If you did somehow miss it, essentially, during the final match up between RDU and Amaz, RDU received a message late in the 2nd game from somebody on his friends list that mentioned some of the cards in Amaz’s hand. At the conclusion of the game, RDU spoke to the administrators and it was decided at that time not to remake the game; that the outcome had already been an inevitability, even without the knowledge of Amaz’s cards. The only stipulation the admins placed at

Curse of Naxxramas was announced roughly 2 months ago and now with only two more class cards to be revealed, and summer nearly upon us, it’s pretty safe to say that we don’t have much longer to wait before we have some much needed new content. While we’ve been privy to many of the upcoming cards to be obtained, we still do not have a clear picture of the pricing structure for each wing. How much gold will we need? What will it cost us to use real money to unlock a wing? There are still so many questions to be answered between now and that fateful release day! Well, here’s one more question for you! Have you been saving for Naxxramas and if so, how much gold do you have saved up? I’ll start! I’ve been saving for about a month now and I currently have around 1300 gold. I’ve been able to stop myself
