Introduction Paladin, despite not being popular at the moment, received some very interesting and flexible card in the ‘Mean Streets of Gadgetzan’ expansion. It is also the most versatile class regarding the ‘buff your hand’ mechanic of the Grimy Goons. I did play-test the below lists to a good success. The strategy and planning involved feel rewarding. Do I have to dump my minions immediately or can I wait a turn longer to expand the value of buffing all minions in hand even further. This is only one of the decisions that you will have to make. Following you will find new cards wit explanations why they are important for Paladin right now. The article will conclude by providing deck list for you to try out. Noteworthy Card Additions in MSG All Decks: Generally (Ab-)Usable These cards are amazing! If you take a look at the below deck lists, they are ...

A lot of turnover is happening in the Blizzard world these last few months. Just a few months ago it was announced that Diablo Game Director Josh Mosquiera had left Blizzard. World of Warcraft Game Director Tom Chilton moved on to an unannounced project leaving Ion Hazzikostas in his wake. Now it appears Hearthstone has a new Game Director in Ben Brode (and has been for a few weeks now). Ben Brode has been with the team since the very beginning, helping now former Game Director Eric Dodds in creating Hearthstone. He will be moving from his role as Senior Game Designer to Game Director. Eric Dodds has been fairly absent from the public eye. His last appearance during a reveal of new content was during BlizzCon 2015 with League of Explorers, and as far as I can tell was really the last time he was involved in an interview ...

Grimy Goons Mechanic Analysis

by OtakuMZ on

Again, our friends from Good Gaming had a particularly interesting article about the hand buffing mechanic that the Grimy Goons utilize. Spark analyzes the cards that buff as well as the effects of cards you want to be buffed like for example Dispatch Kodo. There is a lot to learn on how to use – and abuse – this sometimes difficult to land power given by the Grimy Goons. Check it out here: https://www.good-gaming.com/guide/624...

Community Gems #2: Gang Disccover Chances

by OtakuMZ on

Reddit is always a treasure chest, besides the usual rant, there is always good work to be found. This time, I dug into the competitive Hearthstone subreddit and found an article by The DarkMaster13 called ‘Gang Discover Chances‘. The article answers the question, which chances you have to get effects like healing, card draw or even weapons from the Tri-Class Discover card Grimestreet Informant, Kabal Courier and Lotus Agent. It also highlights an interesting fact, that Tri-Class cards count indeed as class cards in the discovery process. This implies, that infinite discovery is possible. Also, the chances to draw these multi-class cards from other (neutral) discover cards is four times higher compared to neutral cards as it is the case with regular class cards. Interesting! Check all the details out here....

Mean Streets of Gadgetzan is just a couple days old and like any expansion release, we’re seeing a hectic meta as people start testing out decks to see what works and what doesn’t. Also like every collectible card game in existence with a new expansion, aggro takes the early lead as people take advantage of experimentation for quick and easy wins. Aggro Pirate Warrior is such a deck that should be popular toward the beginning, but I’m not sure will have any staying power. Jade Golem Druid is a very popular pick as well and as people continue to experiment with it, it’s possible it could be a top tier meta deck for the next year – especially in any meta that you can easily control the late game. Other popular decks have been Reno/Kazakus versions for Priest, Dragon Priest, Reno style Mage, and Reno style Warlock. With Kabal focusing ...

The Mean Streets of Gadgetzan expansion was released to the Americas server earlier today and within a few hours it was discovered that tri-class cards, a new type of card added to the game in this expansion, were dropping at a much higher rate than anticipated or intended. Once the issue was discovered Blizzard released a hotfix at 2:30pm PST which resolved the issue and brought the drop rate of those cards down to the intended rate. In an effort to compensate players who had already opened packs prior to the release of the hotfix Community Manager Zeriyah announced that Blizzard will be providing additional Mean Streets card packs to players who opened any packs before the release of the hotfix. The rate of compensation will be 33% which means that for every three packs a player opened prior to 2:30pm PST they will receive one additional pack. The release will already ...
