Deathstalker Rexxar to be Updated to Include KnC Beasts

by - 6 years ago

Soon after Kobolds and Catacombs released, many players were disappointed to find that Deathstalker Rexxar (who, since launch has gotten a good amount of play in all the Hunter experimentation going around) did not include any of the new KnC beasts in his build-a-beast options.

A lot of people thought it was a bug or perhaps an oversight to be corrected soon after launch, but three days ago Principal Game Designer Mike Donais broke a lot of hearts by telling Reddit that the lack of beasts was actually intended, citing formatting and translation issues as the reason why. Since that comment, Reddit (predictably) exploded in outrage. Hearthstone Twitter was also pretty full of disappointed players, many of whom felt they should be reimbursed for this indirect “nerf” to Rexxar.

This morning, Community Manager Keganbe announced that Blizzard would be changing its position as to Rexxar and updating him to include new beasts as well. There is no date yet for when the change will be implemented, certain beasts will have to be excluded as some are now, and they warn us that it is a complicated and time-consuming problem, but it should be live in future sets whenever the rest of the set is ready. Check out the whole announcement, and then let us know what you think in the comments below.

Many players have noticed that Deathstalker Rexxar’s Hero Power does not include any of the new Beasts that were added with the Kobolds & Catacombs expansion.

Since then, some players have provided constructive feedback regarding the state of Deathstalker Rexxar, and we agreed that a change to the Hero Power was warranted.

As such, we will be updating Deathstalker Rexxar’s Hero Power to include new Beasts going forward. Please be patient, as this is a fairly complicated endeavor and we may need to start with a smaller change before a more permanent solution is implemented. We don’t have a date for this change to share with you today, but we will provide more information once we have it.

Please also note that as new Beasts are released, we may need to mark some of them as exempt for various reasons, much like how King of Beasts is currently excluded from the pool of Beasts that Deathstalker Rexxar’s Hero Power can pull from.

Thank you for providing constructive feedback. We see your love and passion for Hearthstone and believe that the best way to make Hearthstone better is to do so together.

See you all in the Tavern!
