July 2017 Tag Team Format Fireside Brawl Announced

by - 7 years ago

For those who don’t remember, and have not yet tried it out, recent upgrades to Fireside Gatherings include special Fireside-exclusive Brawls designed to encourage multiplayer play. The special Fireside Brawls rotate on a monthly basis, and today Blizzard announced the format for next month’s Brawl: Tag Team!

The Tag Team rules–designed to emulate a miniature team tournament–are summarized as follows: 1) players will team up into groups of three; 2) the three players share a device and can consult with each other on plays, but there is one main pilot per game; 3) the first pilot selects one of nine pre-constructed Wild-format decks (one per class); 4) when a player loses, the next player on his/her team then discovers a deck from one of the remaining classes to use in the next game of the match; and 5) the first team to defeat all three of the other team’s players wins.

The announcement also provides a link by which players can find their local Fireside Gathering, materials for Innkeepers, and all nine pre-constructed decklists. As a summary: Warlock has a decent N’Zoth control; Druid has an unfocused Soul of the Forest thing; Paladin has a Dragon and Secret hybrid; Mage has a secret-based Kazakus deck; Hunter has an anti-secret control deck (seems good for counter-queueing Paladin and Mage if the format has the winner stick with their deck, as it appears to); Warrior has a weapon-and-armor-based control deck; Rogue has a miracle-style deck that tops out at Yogg-Saron; Shaman has a pre-Mean Streets midrange build with some anti-secret tech in it; and Priest has a very greedy, but crazy powerful, Reno-Raza-Kazakus deck.

Personally, this format seems super dope and I’m very excited to give it a shot! Check it the complete announcement here or below and then let us know what you think in the comments.

July 2017 Fireside Brawl: Tag Team

Your local Fireside Gathering tavern is more than a place to have fun and play Hearthstone with new friends, it’s also the only way you can experience a Fireside Brawl!

Fireside Brawls are special Tavern Brawls that you can experience at Fireside Gatherings! Each month there will be a different Fireside Brawl to try. And since you’re often sitting right next to the player you’re Brawling with, Fireside Brawls promise to be a unique and unforgettable way to play Hearthstone!

This Month’s Brawl is Tag Team!

Our next Fireside Brawl takes full advantage of Fireside Gatherings by teaming you up with fellow attendees to face off in a team brawl! It’s like a mini team tournament just for you and your team.

[Author’s Note: the decklists did not display properly when copied from the Blizzard post into our publisher, but you can browse through them all if you follow the link]

The Rules

Tag Team is 3v3, with each team playing on a single device. The first player on each team gets to choose a preconstructed deck from one of the nine classes. When a player is defeated, one of their teammates tags in to Discover the next deck from the classes on screen and carry on the match. Three heads are better than one, so feel free to talk through your plays with your teammates! The first team to achieve three victories wins the match.

Remember, each Fireside Brawl only lasts a month, and you can only experience Tag Team during the month of July at an official Fireside Gathering!

Innkeepers! Dress Up Your Gathering for Fireside Brawls

Fireside Brawls are a perfect reason to host a monthly Fireside Gathering or three! We’ve whipped up some materials that can add some pizzazz to your events; ‘quest logs’ you can use to give your guests goals to shoot for, round robin tournament sheets, and even Fireside Gathering bingo anyone can play.

Some of these sheets are blank, so you can add your own text to personalize them for your gathering!

Thanks for joining us! We hope to see you in the Tavern soon!
