RDU’s New Tournament Format: „Strike“ – App Already Available (beta)
by OtakuMZ - 7 years ago show comments
Pro Player RDU from G2Esports invented a new tournament format that is intended to make competitive play more interesting and less random. He initially called it “Destiny” which I already presented in this article in October. He renamed it since to “Strike” format. The format is best explained in detail by the G2 pro himself in the two videos below:
In short, the format is focused on match-ups rather than classes and is played as follows:
- Every player brings 3 decks
- Each player chooses to ban three match-ups (alternating, ABABAB)
- Match-ups are played with the loser choosing the next one
The infographic below by Good Gaming explains the format visually, which works even beven better:

The gals and guys at Good Gaming have gone even further. They programmed an app (currently in beta) which helps you organizing “Strike” format tournaments. Feel free to test the tool yourself by going to https://strike.good-gaming.com. The first Strike tournament “Never Lucky Invitational” (announcement post) was already hosted by AKA_Wonder, our famous Spanish C’Thun player from the 2016 HCT. It was a big success from both the player’s and the viewer’s perspective.
For future tournament announcement, which will for sure include some competitions in the new strike format, follow Good-Gaming’s twitter.
