C’Thun and Cultists Infographic (Standard – Kraken)

by - 8 years ago

Hi, it’s OtakuMZ with another infographic. This one was obvious, right? I knew from the start, that this one would be the first infogrphic I want to make when the whole set is released. In the graphic, you will find all cards that revolve around C’Thun (C’T), the so-called “Cultists”. Please note, that the graph is intended for Standard play mode only, as I will all the next infographics released in the future.

The first thing that I realized, when I put this infographic together, was that there are 17 cultist opposed to 16 that were announced by Blizzard in the first OldGods stream. Anyway, the cultist can be divided into two groups: the ones that buff C’Thun and the ones that synergfize with him, normally when he is above 10 Attack. Doomcaller is the exception, he buffs C’thun and brings him back from the Graveyard when C’T died priorly.

This info alone was not to enough for an infographic my gut-feeling told me. Therefore, I thought about what is useful to add atop. I came to the conclusion that it might be interesting to know, especially for the newer players, how to remove him, if you survived his initial outrage. There are a lot of removals that we can use to get rid of an opponent’s C’Thun. Some are conditional, some not. You can find them all in the “Natrual Enemies” category of the infographics. There are also two cards that make him unplayable under normal circumstances, Mana Wraith and Freezing Trap, with the latter being somewhat heavy on the conditional side. Mana Wraith raises the cost to 11 until it is dead. When Freezing Trap bounces C’Thun back, its cost is raised to 12, which will only allow Druids with an Innervate to cast it again.

There are also some other cards, that are interesting to use with C’T and to abuse his battle rage, the Brewmasters and Shadowstep. They will enable you to smack your opponent’s minions and face a second time with all the damage you stacked onto C’Thun. Another way to weave in more damage is to have Brann Bronzebeard on the board. This might be more possible than you think at first glance, but, with a lot of the higher mana Cultist being taunts, it should not be the case. That’s why I exspect a renaissance of The Black Knight, especially in the early days of the OldGods Expansion – so be careful to use that Twilight Geomancer 😉 .

As always, please leave comments below or a tweet @OtakuMZ1978 if something slipped my attention or if there is something missing to the infographic.

“Blade of C’Thun” is in Trigger Effect Cultist. Why? He should be in Buffing ones. He works each time and buff C’Thun.
