Nihilum Trumps Cloud 9, wins Archon Team League!

by - 9 years ago

After a long weekend of games that saw its final day marred by technical difficulties, Nihilum Gaming was able to come away with the grand prize of 150.000 USD.  Nihilum was always one of the favorite teams to take first place on ATLC, and they started out hot with early victories. But not everything was rose-colored,  Nihilum had problems closing out the first phase of the tournament, and they were even close from not making it to the final phase. Their number 6 placement in phase one meant that in order to make it to the live finale, Nihilum had to beat out Team Liquid in the Redemption round, and then make top 2 in the 4-man Satellite round.

Nihilum even continued to struggle during the finals, dropping 2 series to Value Town during the seeding bracket. Their loses on the seeding phase meant that they were going to need 3 wins on Sunday to come away with the Season one Championship, and it also meant that should they make it all the way to the grand finals, Nihilum was going to have played to maximum possible number of series in the tournament. While this might have seemed discouraging for any team, The European Powerhouse was up to the challenge, and after over 10 hours of Hearthstone, they finally claimed victory, dispatching Tempo Storm, Value Town, and Cloud 9 in route to the trophy.

Congratulations to RDU, Lifecoach, and Thijs on this important victory and hefty prize!

But there’s no rest for Nihilum though, all 3 members of the team are currently in the winners bracket round of 16 on the 2015 World Championship European Qualifier. And if you can’t get enough of the Team Format, the Archon Team League will be back in January for Season 2!
