Dannie Ray’s Hearthstone eSports Play of the Week: Stealth Kills!

by - 9 years ago

Most of my “Play of the Week” articles have come out of HPL or ATLC, but this week we are going to try something different as we’ll look into one of the games on the Forsen vs Lothar series during Challengestone 3 Finals. In particular, game 4 where Forsen’s Rogue took on Lothar’s Hunter.

The Combo Play

Master of DisguiseCold BloodFaceless Manipulator

Just from looking at the cards you can probably guess what’s the combo play here. You play a minion, you make it really big with Cold Blood and protect it with Master of Disguise. If that wasn’t enough, then you copy it with Faceless for even more guaranteed damage.

The rules of the tournament stated that only cards that are capable of targeting other cards or heroes can be included in the decks. So there weren’t many ways to deal with stealthed minions, which meant this combo a pretty good idea to run in this environment.

On this particular game, Forsen has a very slow start, with both the Master of Disguise and Faceless Manipulator on his starting hand. Forsen’s entire game revolved around dealing with Lothar’s minions and surviving long enough until he could unleash his full combo. Forsen had lots of important decisions to make during the match and he managed to navigate through the match-up with efficient clears that didn’t sacrifice his combo cards, finally he was able to set up his board of stealth minions that guaranteed him the lethal.

That’s enough to get him my play of the week.
