Highlights

Sjow OP:

Sjow is the number 1 ranked HPL player, holds the longest active winning streak at 4, finished up 3rd place on the EU Ladder for June, and is 4-0 on the Archon Team League Championships. It’s definitely good to be Sjow right now. The Team Liquid representative has amassed a lot of momentum, and he will be needing all of it as he has a whooping 3 HPL matches next week. If Sjow wins all 3 of his matches next week, he might become the first player to clinch a playoff spot.

Muzzy > Dignitas:

Next week is totally going to be Sjow’s, but the MVP of this week’s HPL was Muzzy. The Hearthlytics Ladder Master coupled his  8th place finish on the June NA Ladder with a stellar 3-0 HPL record for the week. Muzzy took a key victory over SuperJJ, which allowed him to contest JJ’s playoff spot. Muzzy also beat both of HPL’s Dignitas players, Greensheep and Kranich. This highlight week for him has brought Muzzy up to .500 and has joined partner Jab on the TOP 8 for the time being.

Broadway Powder

All of the Dancing and Singing in the world couldn’t help Powder secure a victory over Jab this week. But he did manage to score 3-0 sweeps over both ErA, and Purple.  Powder’s victories cemented his spot on the top 8 for the time being and if he continues to perform, he should be able to make it to the live finale and ensure Fnatic gets an invite for Season 2.

Next Week’s Featured Matches

Sjow vs Jab:

Monday starts out super hot as the Player with the most HPL victories faces off  against the player with the highest HPL win rate. This Clash of Titans has huge implications for the top of the rankings, and the winner of this match will be very close to clinching that ticket to the LAN finals.

RDU vs Dog:

Dog lead the HPL rankings for a good while, but his winning ways were derailed with consecutive losses against JAB and ErA. RDU joined HPL late as a replacement for TidesofTime, inheriting a 0-3 record. He’s won both of his matches since joining the league though, so even if his 2-3 record doesn’t reflect it, he’s the only “undefeated” player on HPL. Be on the lookout for this match on Tuesday!

Sjow vs Powder:

I have to admit that I have not been giving Powder that much attention on my reviews previous to this week, but he’s silently made his way into a comfortable spot on the top 8. Powder holds a victory over Sjow’s teammate Neirea, and on Wednesday he gets a chance to go 2-0 against Team Liquid and really cement his place as one of the strongest players on this competition.

Sjow vs Zalae:

Thursday sees Sjow face off against his third top 8 opponent of the week.  Zalae’s Ladder consistency has  allowed him to collect the most Blizzcon points from the NA Ladder, so he’s always a major threat to turn on the heat and go on huge winning streaks. Even if Zalae’s has been dominating HPL like he’s doing on ladder, he’s not the kind of opponent to be taken lightly.
