Highlights

All Heroes Have Fallen:

As of last week, Dog was the last player with a pristine record on HPL. This week he had his first taste of HPL defeat with a 3-1 loss to Jab on Thursday. But while Jab ended up his week on a high note, he started with the wrong foot as his 5 game winning streak came crashing down losing 0-3 to Archon Purple on Monday. Nobody remains undefeated on HPL, and the longest winning streak now belongs to Team Liquid’s Sjow at 3.

Technical Issues Tuesday:

The usually superb production of HPL had some issues this week, although through no fault of their own. Complexity’s SuperJJ had an accidental disconnect on his series-deciding game 5 against ErA on Tuesday. While the game was won by ErA, Complexity appealed, and PVP Live officials have decided that game 5 must be replayed. Later that day, Blizzard servers went down preventing Zalae’s match against Greensheep to see a finish. This might have been a blessing of disguise for Greensheep, who was going through some kind of illness. Zalae and Greeensheep finished their series on the next day, and while Greensheep managed to even up the series at 2-2, Zalae was able to finish strong and take the series home.

Also on Thursday, after Jab took away Dog’s undefeated record, the crew had lots of problems trying to set up the post-match interview. After an extra break and some masterful time-buying from Admirable and Tannon, the interview finally came to fruition.

Team Dominance:

After a Month worth of games, Complexity (9-2) and Team Liquid (9-3) have separated themselves from the pack, with each team placing both members on the top 8. They are followed by Archon (7-5), with one and a half members on the top 8. Hearthlytics (8-8) and Fnatic (6-6) both have a man on the top 8, while the rest of teams are all below .500 with no top 8 representation, except for Kranich from Dignitas who is tied at 8 with Archon Zalae.

Next Week’s Featured Matches

Dog vs Era:

Dog just lost on HPL for the first time, but he’s still tied for first place. Will Era be able to hand him his second defeat and start his own run to the top of the rankings? You only have to wait until Monday to find out.

Purple vs Kaldi:

Purple is currenly sitting on the top 8, while Kaldi is just below. Kaldi is one win away from passing Purple’s teammate Zalae, so by winning this match, Purple will be able to keep Kaldi out of the top 8, and increase his partner’s chance at solidifying his spot on the top 8. This key match for Team Archon will happen on Tuesday.

RDU vs Ostkaka:

RDU and Ostkaka have a 1-8 combined record, both of these players are sitting at the bottom of the Ladder and with a quarter of their matches already gone, time is running out for these players to turn the tide. Both RDU and Ostkaka need this win badly to keep their hopes of making it to the live finale, will Ostkaka lose 5 on a row? Find out on Wednesday.

SuperJJ vs Sjow:

It is Complexity vs. Team Liquid on Thursday. Two members of the most dominant Teams in HPL go head to head as SuperJJ (4-1) goes against Sjow(5-1), these two have done pretty well thus far and they will look to continue to add to their string of great performances. When week 5 ends, the winner of this match could very well be #1 on the HPL rankings.
