Yesterday we speculated who the new hunter and mage heroes would be. Today we got confirmation that we were right on the money for the hunter hero as Alleria Windrunner is revealed to be the new alternate hero. We’re still 99.99999% sure Medivh will be the new hero, although some people are speculating it’s a horse with a broom stick.

For those who may not be up to snuff on Warcraft lore, Alleria is Sylvanas’s sister (so there could be some fun interaction there when Sylvanas is played). She was part of an instrumental team in closing the last dark portal to Azeroth and was last seen in the Outlands returning to Honor Hold. However, her whereabouts became unknown in World of Warcraft as neither she not Turalyon were anywhere to be found in the Burning Crusade. It’s a mystery that has had many fans wondering when we’ll see them again. Adding her to Hearthstone might be Blizzard’s way of nodding to that whole storyline along with the fact that the WoW team has hinted we’ll be seeing them again in the future.

Actress Michele Morrow (she helped host BlizzCon and Heroes of the Dorm) is doing the voice acting for Alleria. You can watch the promotional video below.
