Identity Enigma #7: Time for the Big Game!

by - 9 years ago

While joining your friends at the local tavern might make for an evening of entertainment; meeting new people can be just as rewarding, although maybe a bit dangerous. New faces pop up in the tavern all the time, countless stories are shared among the patrons, and often enough issues will be resolved right then and there. But have you been paying attention to your surroundings? Let’s put your skills of observation and memory to the test and see if you can identify these strangers!

Welcome to Identity Enigma, the new puzzle where it’s your job to identify three Hearthstone Cards based on little clues. The clues can make reference to the card’s ability, its stats, its voice acting, or their flavor text. Maybe I’ll just reference their Warcraft lore, or perhaps just something that has made them notable in Hearthstone. What about having just a silly play on its name? Everything is possible on Identity Enigma!

Great luck, travelers.

Can you identify which 3 Hearthstone Cards are we talking about? Use the comments below to submit your answer and explain why you think your cards fit the bill.

Can’t figure out the first one.

The second one is definitely SEA Giant, who gets less expensive for every other minion on the field.

The third one seems to be Illidan Stormrage. He was imprisoned for 10k years, also known as the Betrayer. Not entirely sure about the other clues.

The theme appears to be minions that can be killed by Big Game Hunter, so 7+ attack.

  2. DidmalFzl says:

The first one is has to be Ravenholdt, because of the 10k gold and the problem solution, which refers to his text in the collection.
The second one could be either Sea or Mountain Giant, I am not exactly sure.
The third one has to be Mal’Ganis as he always tells us his name when he’s getting played. Also, he says “I am ethernal” which some people understand as “I am a turtle”
The last sentence “Don’t betray him” refers to his text in the card collection. 🙂

  3. wolf3r says:

    1) Ravenholdt Assassin – his flavor text does goes “Just mail him a package with a name and 10,000 gold. He’ll take care of the rest”. Also when summoned and attacking he mentions problems.

    2) For sure sea giant. More minions – cheaper giant. Also the SEE hint is a dead giveaway.
    3) Mal’Ganis. Turtle is from the common misconception of what he’s saying when played. 10k+ years is for “I am eternal” (NOT ‘a turtle’ :D)

Theme… Hell if i know. Big drops for sure. End-game theme?

edit: oh, i just noticed the title of the post. “Big Game Hunter targets” as the theme?

    • Cheng says:

Theme is big game hunter targets. There are much more hunts in there. For example the giant flavor text. See? Giant! If i have more time the next days i’ll try to contribute 🙂

      • Daren says:

Come on Cheng, they solved it already, but let’s get every clue.

Theme: “Time for the Big Game!” Refers to Big Game Hunter targets… (easy)

        1. Title: 10k gold, money to pay the assassin (the price in the flavour text). Text, the syndicate is how they call the Ravendholt brotherhood or so, and comes from Edwin Van Cleef’s story. (Alliance are pigs, no wonder they turned the brotherhood evil. Note: I was a horde, and not very familiar with the lore, but I remember something about refusing to pay.)

        2. Title: his weight. He is a giant. Text, “SEE? giant” is the flavour text, and he get’s cheaper for each minion played… (though not only friends). The Big Spender I don’t get.

        3. Title: “Imprisoned for ten thousand years… Banished from my own homeland… ” Awesome burning crusade intro. My favourite character, especially with only Warcraft III lore (the expanded lore made him more evil… In Warcraft III you could really take his side and say, stop screwing with him dammit you don’t understand him!) I mean… I even wrote a rant my guild’s forum defending him when we had to raid Black Temple… Maiev is a BITCH! but let’s stop Illidan anyways… Sorry about that.* Betrayer is his title… though he was mostly betrayed. The turtle thing is to make sure we do not confuse him with Mal’Ganis.

        Anything missing?

        * I have a weakness for grey bad guys… Magneto, he was on the good guys side in secret war, Loki, I mean… he saves the movies Avengers 1 AND Thor 2!…

The Ravenholdt Guild is actually a rogues faction that opposed the Syndicate. According to WoW Lore Sea Giants weight over 10000 pounds. Sea Giant spends more mana when he’s alone. From the Twitter Link and the description text on the main page we actually give the clue that these guys have 7,8, and 9 attack respectively.

          • Cheng says:

1.Big Spender refers to the huge mana cost of see/sea giant when played in an empty board.

2.The 3rd one is Mal’Ganis rather than Illidan. Wolf got it right. Mal’Ganis Says ”I am eternal” indeed when summoned (he loves to tell us who he is and it sounds like i’m a turtle as stated before) and the flavor texts reads “Mal’Ganis doesn’t like being betrayed, so if you discard him, watch out.” The 10K + years refer to his ”eternal” existance. Don’t really know if there is more info in the WoW lore. Btw the misunderstanding reminds me of “oh, for the last time, i’m not a druglord! I’m a dreadlord!”
            3. I think Dannie got the rest. That’s Cheating! 😛
P.S. better late than sorry! 😛
