Got Lethal #9: By Holy Shadowfire be Purged

by - 9 years ago

Welcome to “Got Lethal?” a (hopefully) weekly feature that will try to put you on complicated, yet winnable situations. We will bring you puzzles of sorts where you are tasked with determining the best line of play, which mostly is play that will guarantee you the victory. Maybe this will help you train your pro-skills and perhaps with a bit of luck you won’t Miss Lethal ever again, or maybe the scenarios are way too fantastic to be of help on serious matches, anyway at least I hope you can have fun with them.

The Board

GotLethal9

Here’s a quick reminder of your cards in hand so you don’t have to scroll all the way up.

GotLethal9hand

In case you don’t know what the cards on the board do, you can read their text here. A lot of people are disregarding Troggzor’s ability, I also added the minion that he summons.

By Holy Shadowfire be purged

Our admittedly very weird Priest is going one on one against a Mid Range Hunter, this midrange Hunter is feeling tricky and decided to use Troggzor instead of Boom to avoid Big Game Hunter. This is not good news, as our hand is filled with spells. Can we clear the board in spite of the Earthinator and his summons? Can we take it one step further and finish the game this turn?

I’m leaving it up to you guys, find a play that guarantees lethal and proves that Fire Elementals are infact stronger than silly Troggs!

eXtra Challenge!

This week’s Extra Challenge has nothing to do with winning the game, the goal here is to give your opponent the strongest board possible. So let me know what sequence of cards will you use, and whats the combined stats that our opponent will have on his board during his turn.

If that’s not enough for you, feel free to tell me what’s the maximum amount of damage that can be done during the turn, and what’s the % chance of it actually happening.

And since I’m feeling generous, I’ll also give out Xtra points to whoever can tell me how to get Lethal playing the least amount of cards.

Last week we revisited the Owlsen moment as part of the April Fools celebration, cheers to those of you who caught on to it.

Is this week YOUR turn to make your way into the “Got Lethal?” imaginary leaderboards?

It kills bear and zombie cho that make 5 dmg to Hunter (Total life 13)
3.(2mana) Use ability to kill Troggzor
4.(4mana) Shadow Madness at Burly Trogg that buffs him to 5/5
5.Atk face with Burly Trogg (total life 8)
6.End turn. Rag makes 8 dmg to face

18 dmg with 3 cards total.

    • Dannie Ray says:

This is correct, but you have a small mistake in your details.

      • Argyris Degkleris says:

You meen that I get Burly with 1 life after Circle of Heal?? That’s all??
        ok so
4.(4mana)Shadow Madness at Burly Trogg that buffs him to 5/1.
        5.
        6.
        FIN

18 dmg with 3 cards total.

    2. Hero power troggzor (4mana left) Hunter at 13 health
    3. Light of the naaru + smite burly trogg (2mana left)

  6. Gabooo ! says:

3.- (0 mana) Circle kills trogg

4.- (1+2 mana) Naaru + Hero power kills the Burly trogg
5.-(2 mana) mind blast –> Hunter 8 hp
Ragnaros takes the game with fire and blood !

    • Elessar says:

You can’t attack Trogg with Chow in step 2 because of the Grizzly with taunt.

  7. Chris Ribaudo says:

    1. shadow madness the grizzly (4 mana) (0 damage)
    2. go face with chow and grizzly (0 mana) (5 damage)
    3. play auchenai (4 mana) (0 damage)
    4. hero power troggzor (2 mana) (0 damage)
    5. play circle (0 mana) (5 damage from chow death)
    6. end turn. rag hits for final 8 damage to face with nothing left on opponents board
    mana: 4+4+2+0=10
    damage: 5+5+8=18
    cards used from hand: 3

    • Elessar says:

This is ignoring Trogg’s ability. When you Shadow Madness is step 1, Trogg summons a Burly. Same when you Circle in step 5. Opponent ends up with 2 Burlys on the board when you end your turn, so this only has a 1/3 chance for lethal.

  8. amano says:

Just to be sure: the summoned Rockjay Trogg will have summoning sickness. Is it ignored after using Shadow Madness?

  9. Elessar says:

    Guaranteed (Overkill) Lethal:

    1. Auchenai + Circle (4 mana): Troggzor summons a 3/5 Burly. Circle kills Chow + Grizzly, Chow does 5 damage to enemy face due to Auchenai (leaving him at 13 health). Opponent’s board is 6/2 Troggzor and 3/1 Burly. Our board is 3/1 Auchenai and 8/4 Rag.
    2. Hero power (2 mana, 6 total) on Troggzor to kill it.
    3. Holy Smite on Burly to kill it (1 mana, 7 total). Opponent has no more board.
    4. Light of Naaru on Enemy face (1 mana, 8 total). Enemy at 10 health. We get a Lightwarden for fun!
    4. Mind Blast (2 mana, 10 total). Enemy at 5 health.
    5. End turn, Rag hits face for overkill lethal.

Strongest Opponent Board (not sure on this one):

    1. Mind Blast (2 mana): Opponent at 13 health. Troggzor summons a Burly, so opponent’s board is 3/3 Grizzly, 6/6 Troggzor, 3/5 Burly.
    2. Holy Smite on Rag (1 mana, 3 total): Troggzor summons another Burly, plus Burly #1 gets buffed. Opponent’s board is 3/3 Grizzly, 6/6 Troggzor, 5/5 Burly, 3/5 Burly. Our board is 2/3 Chow, 8/6 Rag.
    3. Auchenai + Light of Naaru on Auchenai + Hero Power on Rag (7 mana, 10 total): Troggzor summons another Burly, plus Burly #1 and #2 get buffed. Opponent’s board is 3/3 Grizzly, 6/6 Trogg, 7/5 Burly, 5/5 Burly and 3/5 Burly. Our board is 3/2 Auchenai, 2/3 Chow, 8/4 Rag and 1/2 Lightwarden.
    4. Circle of Healing (0 mana, 10 total): Troggzor summons another Burly, first 3 Burlys get buffed, Grizzly dies, our entire board dies. Chow restores 5 health to enemy hero since Auchenai is dead, so he’s at 18 health. Opponent’s final board is 6/2 Troggzor, 9/1 Burly, 7/1 Burly, 5/1 Burly, 3/1 Burly (total of 30/6).

    Most Damage:

    1. Mind Blast (2 mana): Opponent at 13 health. Troggzor summons a Burly, so opponent’s board is 3/3 Grizzly, 6/6 Troggzor, 3/5 Burly.
    2. Auchenai + Circle (4 mana, 6 total): Kills Chow + Grizzly, Chow does 5 damage to opponent’s face (8 health), opponent’s board is 6/2 Trogg, 5/1 Burly, 3/1 Burly.
    3. Light of Naaru + Holy Smite + Hero power on opponent’s face (4 mana, 10 total): Opponent takes 7 damage, down to 1 health, opponent’s board is 6/2 Trogg, 5/1 Burly, 3/1 Burly, 3/5 Burly, 3/5 Burly.
    4. End turn. Rag has a 1/6 chance of hitting face for another 8 damage (total of 25 damage).

    Fewest Card Lethal:

    1. Auchenai + Circle (4 mana, 2 cards): Same as original lethal.
    2. Hero power (2 mana, 6 total) on Troggzor to kill it.
    3. Shadow Madness (4 mana, 10 total, 1 card, 3 total) on Burly. Burly is buffed to 5/1.
    4. Hit face with Burly. Enemy at 8 health.
    5. End turn. Since Rag was played before Shadow Madness, he hits face for lethal before the Burly is returned.

  10. Argyris Degkleris says:

If that’s not enough for you, feel free to tell me what’s the maximum amount of damage that can be done during the turn, and what’s the % chance of it actually happening.
So I am guessing that you can do a total of 23 dmg with 20% chance
    1.(4mana) Shadow Madness Grizzle Bear
2.Go face with Cho and Bear (5dmg total- 13dmg on Hunter)
there is Trogg and Burly (2 minions for the opponent)
    3.(4mana) Play Auchenai Soulpriestess.
4.(0Mana) Circle of Heal. You kill Bear and Cho and deal another 5 dmg to Hunter (8dmg on Hunter) Opponent has Trogg (6/2) and 2x Burly (5/1 +3/1)
5.(2mana) YOLO Mind Blast. Another 5 dmg on face. At this point you have made a total of 15 dmg and there is another Burly on the field – 3 total plus Trogg
6.End turn yelling another louder YOLOOOOOOOOOOO hopping for Rag goes face with 1 to 5 chances (20%) doing a total of 23 (missplay imo) damage.

For ULTRA “overkill” you can can lower your chances by playing Light of the Naaru and Holy Smite on Hunters face dealing the same dmg as Mind Blast but summoning another 2 Burrly lowering you chance at 1 to 7 (since opponent has 6 minions on his side) (approx 14% chance to win from Rag)

  11. lyy_ddd says:

The key into solving the puzzle is not relying on rag’s randomness:

    1. Play Auchenai into Circle of Healing, kills Gizzly and Chow, deals 5 damage from Chows deathrattle, and summons a 3/5 which becomes a 3/1 on the opponents board. costs 4 mana
    2. Play Shadow Madness on the 3/1, which triggers it to become a 5/1, and attack face, dealing another 5 damage. costs 3 mana, also summons a 3/5 on the opponents board.
    3. Play Light of Naru and Mind Blast into Face, sealing the deal. costs 3 mana. Summons a light warden, also summons 2 3/5 s on the other side.

  12. Adrián Alejandro Bazán says:

    1.- Auchenai
2.- Atack Troggzoor with the Z Chow: chow dies and deals 5 damage to the oponent face, and 2 damage to the troggzor. Opon
3.- Cast circle of healing: this kill troggzor and give to the oponent 1 burly trog 3/5.
4.- Cast holy smite and light of the nauru to burly trog and kill him.
5.- Cast Mind blast: oponent life is actually 8 and is the only target for ragnaros.

  13. Adrián Alejandro Bazán says:

    1.- Auchenai
2.- Hero’s power on to troggzor.
3.- Cast circle of healing: this kill troggzor and give to the oponent 1 burly trog 3/5. chow dies and deals 5 damage to the oponent face
4.- Cast holy smite and light of the nauru to burly trog and kill him.
5.- Cast Mind blast: oponent life is actually 8 and is the only target for ragnaros.
