Is this the worst deck ever? Frodan vs Seltzer Showmatch at the ViaGame House Cup

by - 9 years ago

I know that I  promised a full review of the ViaGame HouseCup #2, and that will come on Sunday as part of my eSports series. Meanwhile you can check out this hilarious Showmatch, its world renown Caster Dan “Frodan” Chou vs one of the best Hosts in eSports today, the lovely Rachel “Seltzer” Quirico.

Check out the full match below casted by Savjz, Forsen, and Firebat; it’s definitely worth a watch.  Also make sure to check out ViaGame’s youtube channel for more House Cup content.

This match for the ages was sold as a showdown between the 2 worst possible decks, but in reality it was more of a funny setup to screw over Frodan. While Frodan’s deck was built to give him almost no chance to win, Rachel’s Deck at least had a built in win condition in form of a fatigue win via Ice Barriers, and a Coldlight Oracle + Duplicate + Echo of Medivh combo. Still, the rest of her deck was filled with cards that are considered super bad like Lorewalker Cho, Nozdormu, and Wisps.

This video actually inspired me to refine the Warlock deck to make sure that it is actually the worst deck ever. Check out my list and breakdown below.

Deck Breakdown

Worst Deck Ever by DannieRay23

Class: Warlock

Warlock (18)

Neutral (12)

The Warlock Class is an easy choice as its Hero Power will betray you big time when the match comes to fatigue, you will also be drawing mostly useless cards so there’s not much value there.

Basically, this is a “stall” deck with no win condition. It has a lot of removal, but most of its minions have 0 attack. You can at most deal 6 damage to the face with Hellfire and you are unlikely to get the 24 extra damage you need with the few 1 attack minions that you do pack.  Also, since you are hitting yourself for 3, you don’t get an advantage if the match ends up going to fatigue. damage out of your few 1-attack minions, that won’t matter at all.

You also have card draw in form of the Novice Engineer, Bloodmage Thalnos, Mortal Coil, and Sense Demons could pull out the Blood Imps and thin out your deck even further. Even if you manage to survive all the way to fatigue, you are likely to be behind there aswell.

I removed the Sacrificial Pacts which could theoretically steal a win against Jaraxxus, and also healed for 5 which would be helpful in a fatigue situation against a similarly bad deck.

This deck is based on what Frodan was given to play with, but I removed the few cards that actually gave him a fighting chance. Namely Demonfire, and Lorewalker Cho.
