Deck of the Week: Trump’s #1 Legend Paladin

by - 9 years ago

This week’s Deck of the Week we bring you another deck list that has hit #1 Legend in the last week. This time it’s Trump’s paladin deck that he was able to raise to the top.

I’ve been playing this deck for the last few days, and while it’s definitely fun it does have some challenges. If you’re playing lower ranks there are some cards you will probably want to substitute out as Trump’s version has some tech cards meant for the meta at higher levels of play. The deck also has a lot of legendary cards that can be easily substituted out.

The style of the deck is very much controlling in nature while putting pressure on the board. If by turn 8 you are able to pop off a Muster for Battle with a Quartermaster you can nearly pull off a win right there. However, if you play against Warrior or Mage be careful as they were most likely saving a Brawl or Flamestrike for such the occasion to ruin your day. So if you can fish them out (must decks only play one) then you should be fine.

This deck has some issues against Oil Rogue since they have a lot of hard counters for your deck and can clear your minions easily. Always be weary of Sap when you play Sludge Belcher or Tirion and don’t over extend with minions as they can clear your board easily by pumping up their weapon and playing Blade Flurry.

Try to mulligan for Zombie Chow, Knife Juggler, Shielded Minibot, and Muster for Battle. These all give you early advantage. Keeping Acolyte of Pain, Piloted Shredder, and Truesilver Champion aren’t terrible ideas either, especially if you have that early play and be able to hit your mana curve appropriately.

The tech cards you could replace based on what you’re seeing on the ladder are Harrison Jones and Mind Control Tech.

When playing this deck, remember, clearing their board is more important than going for face. You have several healing options to keep you alive so don’t be afraid to smash Dr. Boom with your face and then consecrate. This entire deck is built around maintaining board control and once you start losing it you lose the one advantage this deck has and you’ll have a bad day.

So try out this deck this week and let us know how it went in the comments!
