Bonus Deck: Kel’thuzad Rogue!

by - 9 years ago

On Friday we give you the Deck of the Week, but sometimes we just cannot wait that long to show you something cool. But this is Bonus Deck, where we try to surprise you with cool decks that might just change the way you perceive this game.

Welcome to Bonus Deck, this time around we will take a look at a very effective version of the Rogue that has taken German Streamer P4wnyHof to the top 20 of EU. This version of the Rogue separates himself from the pack as it doesn’t heavily rely on weapons and burst damage like most of the other Rogue decks out there, there’s no Deadly Poison, Tinker’s Oil, or Blade flurry here. Instead, we have Double Belcher and heavier threats such as Sylvannas, Gallywix, Dr.Boom and even Kel’thuzad.

But the deck also shares a lot of other cards with Oil Rogue, so a lot of the time your opponents will be playing around non-existing Blade Flurry Combos and that might just give you the edge you need to take complete control of the board during the mid-game. If we add strong cards such as Sap and Backstab, more often than not you’ll be able to completely out-tempo your opponent, and a turn 8 Kel’thuzad on the right board will put many games out of reach for your opponent.

So check out this list that P4wnyhof and FoxTheFeared have put together as another alternative to bursty oil rogue and the fast rogue we looked at last week.

Kel Rogue

Class: Rogue

Rogue (16)

Neutral (14)

But why stop there? If you really want to make the most out of this deck check out this video on P4wnyhof’s youtube channel where he explains how this deck works and goes a bit into the match-ups and the mulligans that you should be making.

And if you want to see this deck in action, you can always keep an eye on P4wny’s stream.

Are you ready to put down the weapons and start delivering a beatdown with a more minion oriented offense? I know I am.

Do you think this deck is an actual good deck, or good because nobody expects it? I’m skeptical 😛 – but I like playing a more control-styled game, so I think this deck would suit me better than oil rogue if it could be viable long term.

well, if you look at the list Galliwix is the only dust investment you’d need to make, Sylvannas and Boom go into a lot of decks, Kel is naxx, and the rest are very traditional rogue cards that also go on Oil rogue. Swap the Gallywix for a Piloted Sky Golem, Cairne, Black Knight, or even a Boulderfirst Ogre if you can’t find a decent 6 drop in your collection and see how you do with it, maybe it will fit your playstyle.

This fits better than oil rogue. I’m just wondering if it’s good because nobody expects it (like pirate rogue) or good because it’s legitimately good. I’m sure there’s a combination of both. I really want to try this tonight or tomorrow.

This is solid overall, but its more than unexpected. You can and will identify a Pirates Rogue early on and if you know how to handle it you will be able to counter it, but once you figure out this deck is different it might be already too late.
