The Paladin’s Cobalt Guardian is all about the Divine Shield

Guardian de Cobalto

Just like Yesterday a German Site Revealed a Robo-Teddy; today the Cobalt Guardian was revealed by the Spanish-Language website, levelup.com. Luckily enough, I speak spanish, and this Mech’s ability translates to:

  • “Every time you summon a mech, give it Divine Shield.”

If you think the translation is a bit vague, it isn’t much better in Spanish. I had originally thought the card would give Divine Shield to the summoned minion, in fact, that was what the original source was reporting. Instead, it looks like Cobalt Guardian is the one getting Divine Shield over and over. This makes it a much more interesting card but I’m still not sure if its worth it. If you really want to make the most out of it you have to wait until you can drop with another Mech to have it somewhat protected, it might be worth pairing it with a Harvest Golem and use its Deathrattle effect to Shield your Guardian. I’m still not impressed with this card but at least now it shows a bit more promise.

Do you see any better uses for the Cobalt Guardian? Am I severely underating our blue mechanical friend? Let me know using the comment section.

Also, be sure to check our full Goblins vs. Gnomes Spoiler List, we’ll include the Guardian as soon as we get an officially translated version.

i’m ready to be in this extension there will be a minion summoning mechs for free…

I imagine it would have to be played with another mech in the same turn. If mechwarper is on the field this is easier. This card and and a 1 or 2 (annoy-o-tron!) cost mech is a pretty decent play.

There is also the chance of popping your harvest golem in the same turn you summon cobalt to get the effect I think?

I just really want to make a mech and sword of justice deck heh.

I just noticed that the spanish text was a bit vague and could mean two things, I’m not sure if this gives Divine Shield to the summoned mech or to the Cobalt Guardian.

  4. Jacques says:

English version says “gain” not “give it” ( http://www.hearthpwn.com/news/690-gvg-card-reveal-cobalt-guardian-mekkatorques ) and Ben Brode said on twitter that the Guardian gets it.
