Kansas City Extra Life Tournament Results

by - 9 years ago

Our Extra Life Kansas City Hearthstone tournament that took place during the Archetype Gaming LAN has come and gone and we had a lot of fun despite some early issues. We had to start the tournament nearly 5 hours later than scheduled just due to power and internet outages due to all the people at the event and figuring out how we can get everyone separated on the circuits without blowing them. Because of these reasons we had decided to switch from doing a swiss tournament to double elimination.

We had 28 players participate in the tournament itself (we had over 300 players participating at the entire LAN event). The top 8 went home with some pretty awesome prizes which included swag from SteelSeries, $200 Battle.net gift cards that we at BlizzPro donated, and some Hearthstone gear donated by BrawleyGames

We live streamed the tournament and a good chunk of the matches. Only a handful were streamed in the early rounds just due to wanting to get the tournament through as quickly as possible but nearly every match was streamed with the top 8 all the way to the grand finals. You can check out the full brackets here and see the playlist of the matches below

The Top 8

  • L1ght
  • Shimlemons
  • OneTime
  • Splixum
  • Metalgear
  • Reivincent
  • Eldorian
  • Tapper

This tournament and LAN event though was all about raising money for the Extra Life Charity. All donations went straight to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and in our case went to the KU Medical Center Pediatrics.

Some numbers for you:

  • BlizzPro raised $1,000 and met our goal.
  • The LAN event which included the Hearthstone event managed to raise $28,000.
  • The Extra Life participants raising money for the KU Medical Center Pediatrics managed to raise close to $50,000.
  • Extra Life as a whole raised over $5 million this year.

We couldn’t have done this without you all. We hope that you enjoyed the tournament, enjoyed watching it, and we hope to do more events like this in the future.
