Kansas City Extra Life Hearthstone Tournament – October 25

by - 10 years ago

Kansas City has been a pretty happening place lately in the sports world, especially now that my Royals are just 2 wins away from heading to the World Series. However, it’s time to bring some eSports to Kansas City while also raising money for charity. On October 25, BlizzPro will be joining Archetype Gaming at their Extra Life LAN and will be hosting a Hearthstone tournament for the public to join. We will have prizes for the tournament top performers and will be live streaming the matches with some special shout casters who I think you’ll all recognize.

Want to Help?

First and foremost, this is a charity event for Extra Life. All money raised goes directly to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and in our case, KU Medical Center. Whether you are playing or planning on watching, or just want to support what we’re doing – please consider making a donation at http://extralife.blizzpro.com Can’t donate? Consider signing up and participating in Extra Life yourself! Don’t have the time? Simply share this post with your friends on social media. Every little bit donated helps and every person we reach to make aware of this helps.

When

October 25, 2014 – registration ends at 12. Tournament begins at 1 PM.

Where

KU Medical Center – Beller Conference Center, Kansas City, Missouri ku-med-map

Hearthstone Powerhour LIVE

Hearthstone Powerhour Co-stars Twizz and Studder will be at the event shout casting the matches! This will be happening LIVE on the BlizzPro Twitch channel http://twitch.tv/blizzpro – we will try to find ways to make the chat involved with the event in some way (maybe even have some giveaways).

Chris Arnone – the host of BlizzPro Weekly – will also be at the event to MC.

Tournament Format

We will be running a Swiss format. This means we will be playing X number of rounds where X is determined by the number of participants (last time we had 5 rounds). After the final round the players with the best 8 records will be put into a single elimination pool and will play a single elimination tournament to determine the overall winner. Swiss Rounds will be using best 2 out of 3 with the king of the hill style. This means you will need 2 decks that are of a different class. If your first deck wins, you have to play it the next game in that same round, if it loses you must play your other deck. During the round of 8 players will be playing best 3 out of 5 so you will need 3 decks instead of 2. All top 8 matches are planned to be live streamed.

Prize Pool

  • 1st Place Choice of: SteelSeries Warlords of Draenor Siberia Elite Headset ($220 value) + $20 Battle.net Gift Card Or SteelSeries WoW Wireless MMO Mouse ($130 value) + $60 Battle.net Gift Cards
  • 2nd place The 1st place package that the winner does not pick
  • 3rd & 4th place SteelSeries WoW Wireless MMO Mouse + $20 Battle.net Gift Card
  • 5th through 8th place Hearthstone Screen Cleaner + $20 Battle.net Gift Card (1 person will get a Hearthstone mousepad instead of a screen cleaner, we can play for it or have it be randomly selected)

How Do I Enter?

Simply register by filling out the following form and then donating $15 to our Extra Life Charity page. Please include either your name or battletag as a comment when you donate so we can confirm. Registrations will still be taken the day of the event but will end at noon. Those who already registered for the Archetype Gaming LAN BYOC will get a free entry into the tournament, but you will still need to register by filling the below form. Loading…
