Hearthstone Europe Qualifiers Decide First Four to BlizzCon!

by - 10 years ago

Congratulations to Kaor, Numberguy, Greensheep, and Kolento for making it through this weekend’s gauntlet of games and securing their tickets to BlizzCon in November to vie for their chance to be crowned the first World Champion in Hearthstone!

Over the course of several days, as part of Dreamhack Stockholm, the Europe Regional Qualifiers for the World Championship took place. The hosts of the event were Frodan, Artosis, and Savjz, with many famous and well-known players from the EU scene taking their shot at casting their teammates’ and friends’ games. Some nights went long into wee hours of the morning, testing not only the players’ ability to consistently choose flawless plays, but also pushing their endurance and mental strength to the limit.

There were an incredible amount of awesome moments over the course of the games and VODs continue to be uploaded to the Internet as the hours from the last lethal points of damage tick on. For those of you that would like to see the results, but not be spoiled of the actual games, Liqupedia’s Hearthstone page has got you covered.

If you’re looking for some VODs of the final games, look no further than HearthstoneVODs’ YouTube page. You can find all of those games and more right here. I’ll even imbed one of the most anticipated match-ups for you below – Kolento vs. ThijsNL:

Lastly, decklists! We unfortunately have not tracked them down yet, but stay tuned to continued coverage from this weekend’s exciting games as we’ll get those to you with a bit of analysis of what we saw and what it could potentially mean for the ladder as well as the Americas Regional Qualifier taking place next weekend in New York!

It’s also worth noting that some of the most interesting games and decks actually came from the people that were subsequently eliminated. We wouldn’t do this quick wrap up justice without mentioning the unbelievable creativity out of MrYagut (who eventually fell to Kaor) and the aggressiveness of Thefishou. I felt both of these players in particular created some interesting challenges for their opponents and should be commended for their style despite not making it to their ultimate goal of heading overseas to sunny California.

I can’t wait to see more games live and Blizzcon, and am so thankful that Dreamhack was on twitch. It was fun to see the all of them and the final 8 today!
