Card Smart: Starving Buzzard

by - 10 years ago

Sure, you can play that winning card and step away from your match the glorious victor. But where is the fun unless you can also drop some lore knowledge on your opponent and add insult to injury? In this column, we don’t worry about card values or strategy – all we care about is that sweet, sweet lore. Check back every Wednesday for a new installment of Card Smart!

Poor Starving Buzzard: aside from Hunters no one likes him in Hearthstone. After the upcoming nerf, even the always reliable Hunter love becomes questionable. In Azeroth, no one likes him – period – and he’s forced to survive on scraps in a desolate dust bowl near Searing Gorge Canyon.

It seems only fitting that the buzzard gets at least some lore love today.

Badlands is home to the Starving Buzzard, and inhabited by various ogres, black dragon welps, along with a few goblin and Horde outposts. The region is a bone-dry desert, a dust bowl surrounded by steep canyon walls. If it wasn’t for various prospectors seeking hidden treasures in the uncovered Titan site Uldaman, there would hardly be any reason for adventurers to set foot into this forbidding land.

Coyotes, cougars and buzzards are the only critters that seem to exist in this barren place. The Starving Buzzard eagerly greets any new visitors, because it likely means he won’t go hungry today.
