Card Smart: Feugen and Stalagg

by - 10 years ago

Sure, you can play that winning card and step away from your match the glorious victor. But where is the fun unless you can also drop some lore knowledge on your opponent and add insult to injury? In this column, we don’t worry about card values or strategy – all we care about is that sweet, sweet lore. Check back every Wednesday for a new installment of Card Smart!

 Feugen Stalagg

Feugen and Stalagg really are two peas in a festering pod.

These two minor bosses represent the final obstacle before players can face Thaddius, the last boss of the Abomination Wing of Naxxramas’ Construct Quarter. Feugen and Stalagg are the two gatekeepers and as the character art reveals, very much a mirror image of one another. It is very fitting that health and damage points of these two minions are swapped in Hearthstone.

Stalagg (the 7/4 minion) is the brawn of the pair, whereas Feugen (the 4/7 minion) represents more of the brains. Inside the walls of Naxxramas, Feugen is charged with the care and feeding of Gluth by delivering the remains of slain warriors. This makes Gluth the corpse waste disposal unit of Naxxramas, a giant Frankenstein-esque dog feeding on foul meat pieces deemed unfit for zombification.

If the notion of Naxxramas wasn’t unsettling before, it should be now.

During the raid encounter, players have to split up and face each boss in separate groups and on separate platforms. Any break in this formation spells certain doom for the entire raid.
