Tournament Watch: North American Collegiate Hearthstone Open 2

by - 10 years ago

It was so nice, they decided to do it twice! The eSports Association (TeSPA) is organizing another collegiate tournament – the North American Collegiate Hearthstone Open 2 – and again partnering up with PAX to host the final rounds. If you’ll recall, we reported on the first one back in March and were even in attendance at the finals at PAX East. This summer, hopeful North American college students will have another shot at scholarship money and Hearthstone fame!

Of course, now you’re wondering how to get in on the action, right? I’ve got details for you:

  • Registration opened up on July 28th, 2014 and will run until August 7th, 2014 at 11:59 PDT. Don’t delay; sign up today! You can register by visiting this link, which also contains further tournament details, such as the rules, tournament schedule, and brackets (once available).
  • Participants will be vying for $5,000 in scholarships and will also be eligible for random giveaways, including…
    • 1 Card Pack to 25 Winners
    • 1 TeSPA Shirt to 10 winners
    • 1 Murloc to 3 winners
    • 1 Mug to 3 winners

That’s not all though! The format will consist of an online double-elimination tournament to whittle down the players until only 8 remain. These 8 will then be flown out to PAX Prime, where they will battle (all while being streamed to tens of thousands of fans) to determine the overall winner. Better still, the top three finishers will automatically qualify for the World Championship Qualifier tournament! There’s a lot at stake here with no risk from trying, so, if you’re even remotely interested in Hearthstone and you’re in college, you should go ahead and throw your decks into the ring.

For TeSPA’s official announcement, I direct you to their page here.

Let us know in the comments below if you plan to enter and which school you’ll be representing to get the hype train rolling. Best of luck!
