A Fireside Path to the World Championship!

by - 10 years ago

For those of you that missed your chance to host or attend a Fireside Gathering Tournament in July, your second chance has arrived! This weekend, Fireside Gatherings held August 1-3 that host open tournaments will be able to qualify participants for the qualifier. It sounds confusing, but Blizzard does a great job of clarifying the requirements below:

Qualify for the Qualifier!
If you’re a serious Hearthstone player, then attending a Fireside Gathering this weekend (and the first weekend of August) should feature into your plans in a major way. This could be your shot at the big times, so pay heed! The road to victory begins with these steps:

Step One: Many Fireside Gathering events will be holding open tournaments, and if your card handling skills take the top spot in your local verified Fireside Gathering open tournament, then you could make it into your region’s online Fireside Pre-Qualifierhosted by ZOTAC. There will be two verified Fireside Gathering open tournament weekends:

  • July 4 – 6
  • August 1 – 3

Attend, win, and take your first steps on the path of legends!

Step Two: Do well at your Fireside Pre-Qualifier hosted by ZOTAC, and you could earn one of two seeds to compete in the Americas Qualifier Tournament. You’re almost there. . . .

Step Three: Make the top four at the Americas Qualifier Tournament, and you’ll earn a spot at the BlizzCon 2014 Hearthstone World Championship!

Step Four: Compete at the BlizzCon 2014 Hearthstone World Championship! Dazzle the world with your impeccable decision making and innovative play to win the undying admiration of Hearthstone players all over the world . . . and your shot at the massive$250,000 prize pool!

There are some rules to follow though to make sure your event is eligible to be a Fireside Pre-Qualifier, so take note:

Open Tournaments
For a Fireside Gathering to be eligible to qualify their tournament winner for the appropriate Fireside
Pre-Qualifier for their region, there are a few rules. Only Fireside Gatherings taking place in countries or
states that are eligible for the Hearthstone World Championship may take part (Americas Rules – Europe
Rules). In addition, tournaments must have a minimum of eight (8) players entered to be eligible, but
may have any number of maximum entrants.

If you have a particularly large Fireside Gathering, you may want to consider splitting the field into two
or more separate tournaments of at least twelve players each. Organizers may submit multiple
tournament brackets as long as the players in each tournament are unique (players can only compete in
one bracket per weekend) and the other rules are followed.

The format for the open tournaments being held at Fireside Gatherings must be a single-elimination
bracket with best of 3 matches. Each registered player is permitted to use only one (1) deck for the
entirety of the tournament, and that deck may not be altered between games or between rounds.
Tournament organizers must verify that their event took place by taking a picture with all of the
contestants and providing Blizzard Entertainment with a copy of their event’s completed Fireside
Gatherings bracket (color version – black and white).

Once a winner is determined, the Fireside Gathering organizer must send all of the following
information to firesidegatherings@blizzard.com:
1. Group photo with all participants
2. Scanned copy or legible photograph of the filled out bracket
3. The winner’s contact information:
a. Full name
b. BattleTag (Ex: SleepyElf#0001)
c. Contact e-mail address

The complete, official tournament rules can be found Here.

Don’t have 7 friends to organize your own tournament? No problem! The team here at BlizzPro has not one, but 3 events happening this weekend in North America!
