Fireside Chat: What have you been up to?

by - 10 years ago

It’s that time of year again! The sun is shining, the birds are singing, the insects are biting… Summertime has been notoriously difficult for every raiding guild I’ve ever been in. For most people, especially those who live in parts of the world that experience a long and hard winter, (Cough-Canada), the idea of staying indoors to game just doesn’t seem to be very appealing during the nice weather.  I kid you not, I’d rather spend my time pulling weeds from my garden and having my ankles ravaged by ants than spend one second longer in front of my computer than I have to. This includes spending time playing Hearthstone. I still haven’t been able to find the time to log on since the season reset to claim my rainbow card back. It’s not that I haven’t been getting my Hearthstone fix; I’ve still been watching the streams and reading all the articles I can find that deal with advanced theory, but that’s all that I seem to have the energy for right now. Something about spending a day tending to my garden or taking my daughter to the splash pad in an attempt to keep cool pretty much guarantees I’ll be falling asleep within 4 seconds of my head hitting my pillow, negating the ability to squeeze a few games in on my iPad each night. Don’t worry about me though, the minute that Naxxramas Necropolis makes its appearance, I’ll be throwing down my shovel and picking up my iPad. And if by some horrible chance we have to wait until the END of summer to dive into the new content, well, my perennials aren’t the only thing in my garden that go into dormancy during the cold weather.

So, how about you guys? Are you still as dedicated to gaming as ever – the sun it burns! Have you been spending your time on family vacations or taking advantage of the warmer and longer days to dive into another hobby? Let us know in the comments below, or on Twitter – @BlizzPro or @HearthProShow – what you have been up to as the dog days of summer are descending upon us.

I agree, with the good weather I haven’t felt like playing much during the day, and I just picked up Wildstar, so that’s been dominating my late night hours. The only time I played Hearthstone in the last 2 weeks was when I was waiting in the airport. But when Naxxramus comes out, I’ll be hooked again I’m sure. The meta is going to be strange with some new cards coming in every week as the wings are opened.

I moved this week, and it’s taken about 6 days to unpack everything. Getting to the computer took forever, and with lack of Internet for a few days, the iPad and Hearthstone were a welcome gaming outlet. The only issue is the wife and I competing for the same game on the same device.

It’s funny. It seems that the heat is both motivating for other activities and completely debilitating for nearly all activities. I oscillate between being super excited to go out and run in the beautiful New England Summer or just get home and do absolutely nothing.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that D3’s draw is as potent as ever as Patch 2.1 draws closer and promises to add some competition to the game. I have this terrible feeling Naxx and 2.1 will drop next to each other and I will have to choose between my children. 🙁
