Hearthstone Fiberside Gathering/Tournament in Kansas City June 28 | Google Fiber Event Space

by - 10 years ago

Will you be in the Kansas City area June 28? If so, we have quite the event for you that you won’t want to miss.

On Saturday, June 28, with registration starting 11 AM at the Google Fiber Event Space in Kansas City, Missouri, BlizzPro will be partnering up with Archetype Gaming to bring our 2nd Fireside Gathering to the area. This is the first of hopefully more events coming to Kansas City in preparation for our big event that will take place on October 25 at Ameristar Casino during the 24 hour LAN for Extra-Life Charity.

All ages and all level of players are welcome as we plan on playing Hearthstone together for fun. For those looking for a competitive edge, we are also hosting two tournaments: one for advanced players and one for more casual-minded players. You can only enter one tournament and players who are Rank 4 through Legend cannot compete in the casual tournament.

Prizes will be given out to the top players in each tournament. We will also have fun, casual events as well as raffle prizes, so anyone who comes by on Saturday has a chance to win something.

This event is 100% free and entirely focused on meeting other local players who enjoy gaming in a social setting.

The event will also be live streamed, so for those who can’t join us in person, make sure to check out the event at http://twitch.tv/blizzpro.

Casual Tournament Format

Players who are Rank 4 to Legend are not eligible to enter this tournament.

This will be a double elimination tournament. Each match will be best of 3 with players getting to choose whichever decks they want to play. Players can choose different decks to play in their 2nd or 3rd games if they wish. There is no restriction on having to play one deck the entire way through.

The winner will take home a SteelSeries 3H v/2 Headset and a SteelSeries mousepad. Runner up will also go home with a prize (currently to be determined).

Ranked Tournament Format

Anyone is eligible to enter this tournament.

This will use the Swiss Format that you normally see in Magic: The Gathering tournaments. There will be a certain number of rounds depending on the number of players. Each win rewards you points and at the end of all of the rounds, the top 8 players with the most points will go on to participate in a single elimination bracket.

We will be using King of the Hill style rules, which have been popular in the Dreamhack and BlizzCon Invitation formats. Each player will bring 3 decks and can only play those 3 decks in a best of 3 series. If your deck loses, it can’t be played in that match again. If your deck wins, you must play it again the following game in the match. The grand finals will be a best of 5 series.

The winner will take home a SteelSeries 9H Gaming Headset and a SteelSeries mousepad. Runner up will also go home with a prize (currently to be determined).

Can’t Attend?

We will be live streaming the event and the tournaments on the BlizzPro Twitch Channel.

Since this event is to help raise awareness for the Extra Life Charity and our Kansas City 24 hour charity LAN event in October, please consider giving a donation if you enjoy the stream.
