Card Smart: Nat Pagle

by - 10 years ago

Sure, you can play that winning card and step away from your match the glorious victor. But where is the fun unless you can also drop some lore knowledge on your opponent and add insult to injury? In this column, we don’t worry about card values or strategy – all we care about is that sweet, sweet lore. Check back every Wednesday for a new installment of Card Smart!

Nat Pagle

If you love Warcraft and fishing (and honestly, who doesn’t?), then you are surely familiar with Nat Pagle.

Nat Pagle is a neutral NPC fishing trainer and quest giver, who can be found in several spots around Azeroth, such as Darkmoon Island, Dustwallow Marsh, Old Hillsbrad Foothills, and Krasarang Wilds. His claim to fame as “Angler Extreme” has led to numerous items of fishing equipment in game.

Nat volunteers that he has no real interest in fishing, but also says that he’s been doing it for decades (which is likely how most players feel about it). Nat Pagle offers the quest “Nat Pagle, Angler Extreme”, which requires a fishing skill of 225 and a minimum level of 35, but is now no longer required to achieve Artisan fishing. Now you’re only in it for the fun, and one of the greatest fishing poles in the game.

With a fishing skill of 300 or higher, Nat will provide instructions for summoning Gahz’ranka at Pagle’s Pointe  in Zul’Gurub (a place suspiciously littered with loads of booze bottles – or as Nat puts it: “fishing is a great excuse to drink … heavily”). At that time, Nat will helpfully sell some Mudskunk Lures to boot (and who doesn’t love Mudskunk Lures?).

Even if you’ve never bothered to seek out Nat Pagle, without a doubt you’ve come across his rather impressive list of named in-game items. And if you haven’t, it’s time to start fishin’!

Serious thought. Should we Disenchant our Nat Pagle and enchant a new one if he is not fishing enough?
