Fireside Chat: Good Luck Charms and Superstitions

by - 10 years ago

When I was a kid I used to spend a week every summer with my Aunt. One of the things we always did together was a night at the Bingo Hall. I loved picking out a bright colored bingo dauber from her bingo bag, usually pink, and one of her lucky charms from the assorted troll dolls, buttons and bells. Looking around the room, most of the people there had some form of good luck charm sitting on the table while they played, hoping the randomness of the numbers would be swayed to their favor by the irresistible charm of a purple haired, naked doll. Some people weren’t as obvious with their displays, instead choosing to rely on ritualistic ways of wooing luck, like folding the corner of every page before the start of the game or never marking the free space. Whatever their preferred method, the desired result was always the same, finding a way to beat the odds and overcome the randomness of luck.

There has been a lot of discussions recently regarding the randomness of a few cards and whether or not they should be banned in competitions and it got me to thinking about those good ole luck charms and superstitions. I realized that I’m no different than those bingo players when it comes to my luck charms and rituals to help me get a leg up on RNGesus. For a physical charm, there’s my lucky mug, the mug that I will pull out of the dishwasher and hand wash if necessary, and superstitiously, whenever I play Nat Pagle, I NEVER end the turn until the battle cry music has finished playing. Call me crazy but in my mind it improves his odds of fishing for me that first turn.

So what about you guys? Do you have any good luck charms to improve your odds of a 1/1 Tinkmaster battlecry? Is there a special ritual that can be preformed in order to make sure you Mindgames a Ragnaros on turn 4? Let us know in the comments below!

This one’s easy and it works for everything: yer Tinkmasters, yer Mad Bombers, yer “Mental Dislocators!” you name it. Just say out loud the result you need, play the card and say loud, clear and with passion “Come on, one time… ONE TIME!”

Not only does it work for getting what you want, it also works for your opponent not having/getting what they need: “No Consecration, just this one time… ONE TIME!”

There’s also the proper way to open a booster pack, but that’s for another post. ๐Ÿ˜€

So many ways to open a pack, that could be an entire Fireside Chat all on it’s own! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hahaha, I love this. You say, “One time!” but it’s never just one time. ๐Ÿ˜‰

For me, I have a little Scyther figurine that a friend sent me from Japan and I got it right when I was having a really good string of luck in Diablo 3, so now it has a permanent spot on my desk and watches quietly over my games, giving me the assistance I need when he deems I need it most.
