Deck List of the Week: Warlock Aggro

by - 10 years ago

Everyone is talking about Mages, Priests, and Paladins – but I don’t feel like Warlocks get the love they deserve. The Warlock hero power in my opinion is the best in the game, 2 mana to draw a card but the draw back is you take 2 damage to do it. However, that mechanic makes the Warlock the perfect candidate for a good aggro deck.

The problem is other than Murlocs there didn’t seem to be a decent Warlock Aggro deck. Two weeks ago though, Aimlessgun in the Managrind tournament showed that there is a decent aggro Warlock deck that doesn’t use Murlocs, is cheap to build, and also can win competitively as he took 2nd place in the tournament.

I’ve been playing the deck for a couple weeks now and decided to use it in the MLG tournament where it crushed the first round and did well in the 2nd. I think I might have won if I stuck to my guns instead of switching to my Priest deck. To play this deck you want to have as many 1-2 drops in your hand to start off with and you want to use Soulfire and Power Overwhelming to finish off your opponent. Raging Worgen with Power Overwhelming I feel is a very under appreciated combo.

There are definitely some issues with this deck that still need improved on. If your opponent can handle aggro you’ll have some problems, taunt minions will definitely slow this deck down. If your opponent is also playing aggro there is no board clear here so you’ll have to try and play the board control game and use your hero power wisely to stay ahead in life. The only removal cards you have is Soulfire and Demonfire so you want to make sure you control the board with your minions. Don’t be afraid to put out Venture Co. Mercenary 5th turn because he CAN and WILL help you turn the game around in your favor if needed.

Here’s the full deck list:

2x Soulfire
2x Power Overwhelming
2x Blood Imp
2x Flame Imp
1x Demonfire
2x Acidic Swamp Ooze
1x Amani Berserker
2x Dire Wolf Alpha
2x Faerie Dragon
1x Arcane Golem
2x Raging Worgen
2x Shattered Sun Cleric
2x Dark Iron Dwarf
1x Pit Lord
2x Spellbreaker
2x Doomguard
2x Venture Co. Mercenary

You can watch the video below to see how I play this deck along with some further explanations.

Commenting on a change I made to this deck – I replaced Pit Lord with Leeroy Jenkins.

We are pretty excited about the upcoming release of Dire Wolf Beta, just repost this sign for a chance at a key.

Tried it out, works amazing. Out-aggro’d a murloc deck with it!

Terrible deck. Can’t respond to almost anything, at all. And it’s not nearly fast enough to burn down the other person. Just having Spirit Wolves or Illusions or 1/1 summoned pally tokens, or anyone with AoE, or well, any player at all absolutely destroys this deck.

    Nice attempt, but failure indeed.

Like any other deck, look at the date and realize it’s outdated before you throw a fit that it doesn’t work with you. The meta shifts very quickly. Right now there’s a faster Warlock Deck out there that is considered a top tier deck right now.

With that said, this deck is cheap to build and still does decent enough. It’s not terrible, but it’s not a 1st tier deck either.
